How to Stay Motivated to Workout

Are you struggling with how to stay motivated to workout? Even if you know how exercise can improve your health, it’s hard to find the time especially with a busy schedule.

Today I have a few simple ways to stay motivated to exercise.

You can tap into your inner motivation for exercise motivation. With a little determination and planning, you can stay on track with your fitness program!

Tips to Stay Motivated to Workout

Set achievable goals. Set goals that you can actually attain. That means engage in an exercise activity that is not overwhelming or above your fitness level. Make a goal to exercise a set number of times a week that fits with your schedule so you don’t get overwhelmed. According to the 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines, a minimum of 150 minutes of moderate-intense exercise per week can benefit you!

Make a schedule. Schedule your workouts just as you would any important meeting. Determine a time in your day when you can get your workout done. The best time to exercise is the time when you can get it done! I prefer early morning. I get up early and get it done. Then I don’t have to figure it out for the rest of the day!

Exercise with a friend. Working out is more fun with a friend. It’s one of my favorite ways to stay motivated to workout. You can also be more accountable if another person is involved and has similar goals. buddy system for increased workout accountability and enjoyment. If showing up or making time to exercise is your biggest challenge, having someone to be accountable to could be all you need.

Good sleep. Have you ever woken up in the morning and thought, “why can’t I get motivated to workout?” Sometimes it’s due to poor quality sleep. It’s a catch 22 for sure. Exercise can help you sleep better. If you have a healthy sleep, you are more likely to wake up energized!

Don’t beat yourself up. Don’t worry too much if you miss a workout. Occasionally I do and just figure that is my rest day. Get back at your exercise routine tomorrow.

Mix up your workouts. If you get totally bored with your workout, just mix it up! Beachbody on Demand is a great way to do that. With thousands of workouts to choose from, your best workout is just a click away!
