  • What is your fitness goal?
  • Do you want to lose weight, get ripped, tone up, or add muscle?
  • What is your current fitness level? Do you consider yourself beginner, advanced, or something in-between?

Once you know what you want to achieve with a fitness program, it will be easy to determine if “P90X or Insanity” is right for you. Whichever program you decide to do, be sure to make the commitment and get serious it! Doing your workouts according to the schedule and following the nutrition plan are crucial to your success. It took you a few years to get in your current shape and it will take some time with P90X or Insanity to get healthy again.

The workouts target all areas of your body using cardio, strength training, and stretching. You definitely need some equipment for this workout. That should also play into your decision of whether P90X or Insanity is right for you.

If you prefer traditional exercises like pull-ups, push-ups and weight-lifting with dumbbells, P90X is a great choice. It’s easy to follow but not so easy to do! Are you up for a challenge?

You can start out with lighter weights until you get the hang of it. There are also 2 main programs to choose from: Classic or Lean. The Lean program has an extra day of cardio and one less day of strength training to give you the extra toning you might be looking for.

Let’s move onto Insanity. You may have heard that it’s the hardest workout ever put on a DVD home fitness program. Guess what! It’s true. While P90X focuses more on resistance training, INSANITY excels for cardio training in 60 days. The high-intensity activity is aimed at faster increases in fitness and more efficient burning of carbohydrates and fat. Do you want to burn up to 1,000 calories per hour?

Insanity workout results
A major difference between P90X and Insanity is that you use your own body power and resistance to get results with this crazy workout. It’s really a challenge. If you decide to go with Insanity, don’t expect to keep up with the cast members on the DVD. Plan on working up to their pace and use it as a motivator.
